Jul 27, Natalie Bright rated it really liked it. Great tale with the return of Chet Byrnes as he tries to relocate the clan to Arizona. Dusty Richards' details always amaze me, from riding horses, rounding up cattle to shootouts. Very entertaining. I'm glad I picked this western to read. My reading is varied. I was in the mood for a western and this fit the bill. I did think he sure saw his share of trouble and sometimes you wished it would end. I just checked out the next in the series and can't wait to get started. I like books that keep the series going.

This was quite the page turner and the end of the book definitely left me wanting more, as I obviously want to know what happens once Chet and his family move out to Camp Verde, what happens with him and Kathren doesn't seem too good from the last line!

Bawled like a baby for half an hour. Worth the read. Don't even have to read the first cause he's got so many catch ups in there.
Jul 23, Patricia rated it did not like it Shelves: lost-interest-didn-t-finish. I lost interest in this book. I was listening to this on audio. Now I'm not. The remorseless killing inthe beginning of the book, the birth-control-less and casual sex, the swearing. All not for me.
Can things get any worse. This book took my breath away. I just wanted to go help these wonderful characters. Well onto Book 3. This is turning out to be a terrific series. When a stage is robbed of a fortune in gold, the Byrnes boys set off on a wild race through the wilderness. In a harsh, unforgiving land, the Byrnes men face a mystery of gold and death - that could explode like a bomb in their hands. Building a ranching empire is one thing, keeping it out of the hands of robbers, kidnappers, murderers, embezzlers, and every no good opportunist crawling through the Arizona desert is a daily grind for Chet Byrnes. He's just as likely to rescue a stolen daughter as he is to recover rustled cattle on any given day.
But with a family to keep safe and enough real target practice to keep his aim deadly, nothing's going to stop Chet from bringing his ranch into a bold new era.
